Drop-in to our cosy Carlton studio on Saturday July 4 for a series of inspiring story workshops delivered by our team of professional writers. This special winter one-off is something fun for the whole family to enjoy – your school holiday ideas are sorted!

Explore the evergreen world of narrative writing through three immersive and inspiring workshops this winter school holidays. A wonderful way to get kids (and their folks!) thinking about the characters and worlds they know and love, and turning that inspiration into practical creative writing skills. There’ll be plenty for every member of the family to learn and enjoy along the way!

Attend all three, or join in for just one or two – they work beautifully as a set, but just as well as stand-alone sessions!

Book a spot for just your young writer(s) – $15 per young writer. Best suited to children aged 8-14 years, however older or younger siblings are welcome also.

11:00am – 12:00pm – Character Creator

In this first workshop, we’ll be designing interesting protagonists replete with strengths, flaws, desires and exciting backstories to bring it all together. 

12:30pm – 1:30pm – Laws of the Land

Our second workshop of the day can be done on its own, or as the second in the series. In it, we plunge into world-building; map making, imagining environmental obstacles, exploring societal problems and writing stories set within these worlds!

2:00pm – 3:00pm – Twists and Turns

In our third and final workshop of the Winter Write-In, we will learn about setting up twists in stories and turning plots in unexpected directions. This workshop can also be done on its own or as the finale for the day.
